Kyoshi Neil Hourston introduced Kempo to Scotland, he hails from the Orkney Islands, Scotland, and lives in the Highlands at Tain (which is Scotland's oldest Royal Burgh). Kyoshi is one of a few full-time Professional Martial Arts instructors in the UK and is Director and Chief Coach of the Scottish Kempo Academy (www.kempo.co.uk). He is also a British & European Kilohana Society Standards Board member and Instructor.

Kyoshi Hourston commenced study of the Martial Arts in 1985, he is Founder of the Yoshin Kempo system and holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt Master instructor in the art. Kyoshi is also a 7th Degree Black Belt Master instructor in JuJitsu and has received numerous awards from international instructors including his current Kempo and JuJitsu ranks signed by Professor James Muro, 10th Dan Kenpo / 9th Dan JuJitsu. Other Grandmasters who have awarded Kyoshi Hourston Black Belt status are: Soke Andrew McGill, 10th Dan Kenpo, Soke Robert Clark, 9th Dan JuJitsu and Hanshi Peter Browne, 8th Dan Kempo JuJitsu. Kyoshi is widely known as a talented and dynamic international Martial Arts instructor who has taught and trained at seminars in the UK, USA, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Holland.
